Service Description
Please select your preferred time to drop off the cremated remains at our Marina del Rey location. This is a drop-off appointment, not a boat departure time. Available drop-off times are 8:00 AM, 9:00 AM, 10:00 AM, 11:00 AM, and 12:00 PM. Important: Please contact us before selecting your drop-off time to confirm our availability. On some days, we may have a private burial at sea or memorial ceremony scheduled, and we may need to arrange a different drop-off time. At Ocean Memorial LA, our Unattended Ocean Memorial Ash Scattering service offers families a respectful and dignified burial at sea without the need to be present onboard. This option is ideal for those who are unable to attend in person but still wish to provide a meaningful ocean farewell along the Los Angeles coastline. Departing from Marina del Rey, our licensed captain conducts the ash scattering offshore in full compliance with federal EPA and California state regulations. Every ceremony is handled with professionalism, discretion, and care. Although unattended, each service is performed with the same respect and dignity as our live ceremonies. Ashes are gently committed to the Pacific Ocean at an approved offshore location. This service includes: • Licensed captain and vessel • EPA- and California-compliant burial at sea • Respectful handling of cremated remains • Offshore scattering beyond required distance • Certificate of committal with date and general coordinates • Optional photo confirmation upon request Families often choose this service when: • Travel is not possible • A simple and private farewell is preferred • Immediate arrangements are needed • Loved ones live out of state Our team ensures that every unattended ash scattering is conducted with compassion and professionalism, providing peace of mind during a difficult time.
Cancellation Policy
Ocean Memorial LA is fully insured and operates in accordance with applicable federal, California, and Los Angeles County laws and regulations. Customer Cancellations • More than 30 calendar days before the event: Full refund, less any non-refundable processing, dockage, or administrative fees. • 14–30 calendar days before the event: 50% refund. Non-refundable processing, dockage, and administrative fees are not refundable. • Within 14 calendar days: No refund. Because the vessel, Captain, crew, and dockage are reserved specifically for your event, bookings within this period are non-refundable. Customer-Requested Rescheduling • Customer-requested rescheduling is subject to a $200 rescheduling fee to cover non-refundable dockage and handling costs. • Rescheduling requests made within 14 calendar days of the scheduled event may also be subject to Captain and crew reservation fees: Captain: $75/hour Crew member: $25/hour • Customer-requested rescheduling is generally not available within 14 calendar days of the event and is subject to the Captain's discretion. Weather & Mechanical Issues The Captain has sole and final authority to determine whether conditions are safe for departure. If the trip cannot safely proceed due to heavy rain, fog, unsafe sea conditions, a Small Craft Advisory, or mechanical issues, the trip may be rescheduled at no additional rescheduling fee. Weather-related rescheduling will be based on official marine weather forecasts and the Captain's assessment of actual conditions. The safety of our passengers, crew, and vessel is always our highest priority.
